I have vivid memories of days and nights in Ghana, West Africa, spent dancing with close friends and strangers. Dances from Afar is inspired by the flavor and intensity of these memories. Each dance is named after a location in Ghana.

Vibraphone Loops features a solo vibraphonist playing energetic, soulful melodies and rhythms that dance upon the accompanying tape part. The music is especially influenced by pianist Robert Glasper and composer Steve Reich.

Suspended in Perpetual Ascent features two violin soloists woven into a background of continuously rising lines. The piece draws influence from the Baroque concertos, Gyorgy Ligeti's Melodien, and Italian futurist painting.
